VIDEO: The importance of strength training
23rd July 2018
Since we were babies, we’ve taught ourselves how to move and get stronger, from crawling to squatting to walking. But we need to keep teaching ourselves! Strength is an essential function – not just an aesthetic one and everyone should be including strength training in their weekly workouts.
Luke Worthington, PRI Practioner, Nike Ambassador and Trainer at Third Space London, and Movement Coach Roger Frampton joined us at #FulfilFitFest in London for a discussion on why regular strength training is vitally important for everyone.
Who taught you to move? You did! From crawling to squatting to walking, we taught ourselves how to move and get stronger and we need to keep teaching ourselves, says Roger Frampton who specialises in functional movement.
Nowadays strength training is done more for an aesthetic purpose but it should be for a functional reason as it’s so essential as we get older.
From injury prevention to understanding what overload is and why you should be doing it, Roger and Luke discuss all the fundamentals and best practice for increasing your strength.
